Dr. Parmar has more than 12 years of experience as a physical therapist across various long-term care, skilled nursing and outpatient facilities. She has strong experience treating geriatric patients, athletes and kids alike. Her specialty includes providing physical therapy to patients with Musculo-skeletal conditions, neurological disorders, and pre/post-surgical care.
Dr. Parmar completed her Bachelors of Physical Therapy – with distinction in Physiotherapy for Musculoskeletal Condition - from Mumbai, India. After which she pursued her MBA in Health Administration in New York. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy with specialization in Neurology from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania. She is also a Certified Exercise Expert in Aging Adults by American Physical therapy Association. Dr. Parmar worked with Multiple Sclerosis Society Of India to provide home based Physical therapy services. She also worked in Bombay Hospital, India with Pediatric patients on outpatient basis. After that she came to New York, USA to pursue MBA in Hospital Administration and also started working on her Physical therapy license to practice in New York. She passed her license exam with 81%. She worked in Outpatient setting, Skilled Nursing facilities and Long Term Care Facilities where she has been treating variety of patients including kids, adults and geriatrics alike. Over these 12 years of her work experience in different patient population she has created this treatment approach which is based on evidence based practice and clinical practice guidelines. Her treatment approach is to improve function and not just the pain. She believes that it is very important to understand the pathology and the cause of the problem - not just the symptoms, and provide a target based solution. Her philosophy is based on four pillars of focus for the patients’ treatment – MObility, STrength and CAre based on REsearch = MOST CARE! This approach has helped her with her mission to improve the patients’ condition and help make a positive and attainable impact to their lives.
In her spare time, she likes to teach (and learn) new things from her daughter, cook for her family and friends and spend time with them. She loves dancing and working out – all while keeping up to date with the latest trends in the world of Physical Therapy.
